Soko Grad     

Šipovo - 460 m above see level is a place, which in the ancient times was a Roman fortification and important municipium. Many precious monuments from those times have been preserved, such as a statue of Minerva, a statue of Jupiter and a figure of a Genius in deep relief. Also, the traces of a Roman military campus - a castrum (dating form I-II century) and the remnants of an early Christian basilica were found. In the Middle Ages Šipovo grew in importance through the strategic character of the fortress of Sokograd over-viewing the canyon of the Sokočnica river. The last Bosnian king Stefan Tomašević, spent some time in the town.

This whole region is a real paradise for hunting and sports fishing. In this town your chances to catch the fish of your life, especially of noble kinds, are very good. Four rivers - Pliva, Janj, Sokočnica and Lubovica - are famous for its clean water and quality fish.

Their rapids, cascades and whirlpools and the surrounding green meadows and dense forests, plus natural attractions such is Vagan cave, make Šipovo one of the most attractive nature reserves on the Balkans.

Many places, including small, cozy hotel "Janj", pays special attention to good cooking and can offer you delicious fish and venison specialties. About 7 km form Šipovo lies the spring of the Pliva (two springs) and the hunting grounds Vitorog.
